Answer (for Versions 3.2 - 4.05):FAQ Number: 1

To configure the software to access the parts database from a network location follow the steps below:

  1. Place your article.mdb database in a folder on your network.
  2. In the ODBC dialog click on the System DSN tab. There should be two data source names for the promis-e install.
  3. Select the first data source name then select the Configure button.
  4. Press the Select button and browse to the article.mdb file on the network. After you have highlighted the article.mdb file press OK.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the second data source name.
  6. Delete the UI.mdb file located in the promis-e work directory (i.e. PR\Work).
  7. Restart the software and promis-e should now read your database on the network.

Note: If you have an existing project that was created when the parts database was on your local machine the project may still read an article.mdb file located on your local machine. To resolve this problem you will need to either rename or delete the local article.mdb file.
