Answer:

AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT 2004/2005 now install various files to the "Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\AutoDesk" folder, where Administrator is the Windows login name. The following subfolders exist under this main AutoDesk folder:

  • Data Links
  • Plot Styles
  • Plotters
  • Recent
  • Support

AutoDesk now saves printer configuration (.pc3) files, menu files, and various other files in this location. Consequently, if you now log into this workstation with a different login than was used to install the software, these files will not be accessible.

In order to resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the machine as Administrator and copy the "Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\AutoDesk" folder and all of its subfolders to the "Documents and Settings\Login\Application Data" folder, where Login is your user's Windows login name.
  2. Start AutoCAD and select the Tools > Options menu pick and select the Files tab. You must then change any of the paths that were referring to the "Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\AutoDesk" folder to the folder that you created in step 1 above.
  3. Select OK to save your changes and then exit out of AutoCAD.
  4. Start promis-e and select the Tools > Preferences menu pick and select the Files tab. You must then change any of the paths that were referring to the "Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\AutoDesk" folder to the folder that you created in step 1 above.
  5. Select OK to save your changes and then exit out of promis-e.

Note: After verifying that everything works correctly you can export the promis-e and AutoCAD profiles that you modified in the steps above to separate files. When another user logs in he will need to import the new profiles, overwriting his existing ones. AutoCAD LT users may need to run the LT-Extender program and register AutoCAD LT extender with AutoCAD LT prior to exporting the profile.
