promis•e® 2007 Software - Major Revision of Electrical Design Application

BROOKFIELD, WI, August 17, 2007 - ECT International has released a major new version of its popular electrical design software package, promis•e. The new version, promis•e 2007, was completely rewritten and redesigned to improve performance and usability.

Among the powerful new features of the software are the following:

  • MicroStation® support - You can now run promis•e 2007 as an add-on to MicroStation and MicroStation PowerDraft CAD software. There is also an AutoCAD® add-on version as well as a standalone version that includes its own CAD engine.
  • SQL and Oracle support - These database platforms offer enterprise data management along with performance gains over other database types.
  • Multiple Drawing Modes - There are separate drawing modes for schematics, panel layouts, pneumatics, etc. The mode controls the behavior of the software and allows different drawing types to be used on the same page.
  • Comprehensive API - The Application Programming Interface (API) provides all the functions, properties and events necessary to create custom programs.

Usability enhancements include the following:

  • Streamlined Interface - The software offers improved access to commonly used functions using familiar, Windows-like conventions.
  • Increased Flexibility - More options are provided to the user in areas such as ID formats and page and project filenames without adding undue complexity.
  • Project Manager - This centralized manager allows you to create, copy, rename and delete projects and pages. Familiar tree structure organization along with thumbnail views allow you to quickly locate the desired drawings.
  • "Wizard" Creation Functions - The software now utilizes step-by-step "wizard" functions to prompt users through common procedures such as creating symbols and custom page formats.

As with previous versions of the software, promis•e 2007 fully supports both ANSI-IEEE and IEC standards for electrical drawings. Additional symbol libraries are available for hydraulic, pneumatic and process control as well as parts databases for many leading component manufacturers.
